Middle School Arts Exploration
(Grades 7-9)

• March 9-14:
  with Zoe Scofield, Juniper Shuey, Diem Chau, Jeannine Gailey, Samantha Rund, Erwin Thomas
  
• March 16-21:
  with Amy Johnson, Jeffry Mitchell, Jeannine Gailey, Dora Oliveira, Samantha Rund, Erwin Thomas

In two, separate week-long workshops, you’ll work with movement, visual art, writing, and theater artists to deepen your understanding of particular art practices and the ways they can interconnect.

During the first week, March 9-14, Zoe Scofield and Juniper Shuey offer workshops in movement and videography. You’ll have a chance to focus on movement phrases and create new video techniques. Jeanine Gailey will guide you in your creative writing, and you’ll explore new ways of writing and expressing yourself through words. Diem Chau will lead workshops that focus on working with your hands and tools, focusing on the ability to make art out of common, everyday materials. Samantha Rund and Erwin Thomas will provide you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in dramatic exercises and performances, in a wide variety of styles.

If you register for the second week, March 16-21, you’ll be able to work intensely with Amy Johnson and Jeffry Mitchell, who will help you explore and develop your skills in drawings, paintings, and sculpture. They’ll also guide you in moving among genres, and seeing how different genres are interconnected. Jeanine Gailey will guide you in your creative writing, and you’ll explore new ways of writing and expressing yourself through words. Samantha Rund and Erwin Thomas will help you explore the rich world of theater through exercises and performances, in a wide variety of styles, and dancer Dora Oliveira will teach Brazilian and other forms of dance.   

Tuition, room and board is $365. Scholarships are available.

• For these programs chaperones are asked to accompany a group of four to six students from each school. Tuition, room and board is free for chaperones.
