Saturday, April 30th • 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our friends Christopher and Sidonie at the Olympic Hostel have asked us to share the news about this wonderful festival now in its 10th year! If you are able to volunteer some time and/or talents to this great event they would love to hear from you. The Children's Festival of Art is filled with hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in the arts and crafts, along with demonstrations by local artists. Everyone from young to old is invited to this Festival of learning and creativity, entertainment and imagination, presented by Co-Arts and sponsored by Northwind Arts Alliance. The Festival’s intent is to expose as many people as possible, particularly youths, to arts and crafts experiences with local artisans that will awaken their minds and open creative doorways that will sustain them through challenging times. Children and adults spend the day experimenting and creating from thirty different hands-on mediums including embroidery, spinning, beading, weaving, bookmaking, Odrinkra printmaking, watercolor painting, wood boats, clay hand-work, wheel-work pottery, puppets and doll-making, metal sculpture, multi-cultural arts, primitive art, and more. This is a non-commercial arts festival and there are no vendors; only things to do, learn and see. Here's what is needed: • People or groups with familiarity in a given art or craft form to take a leadership role and facilitate an art station • Support people to help in the art/craft areas (3-hour shift; training provided) • Set-up in the morning, clean-up in the afternoon • Ticket-takers and parking attendants • Musicians and entertainers • People to help cook for our volunteers Contact Sidonie at sidomaroon@yahoo.com or at (360) 385-0655, #3, if you would like to be a part of this energetic and fun-filled event.
