A 4-Day Latin/Salsa Dance Retreat - March 18-21st
Come to Fort Worden for our first-ever Salsa Dance Intensive, running concurrently with Centrum's Latin Jazz Intensive, March 18-21, 2010.
Madrona MindBody Institute is joining forces with the Century Ballroom in Seattle and Centrum to bring together a great group of dance faculty who will ignite your love for this dance form. This is a 4-day salsa dance dream - housing and on-campus options are available.
The Intensive will offer Salsa classes On1 and On2 for both intermediate and advanced dancers. Roger Chen of MamboHustlers will teach On2 while the Century Ballroom instructors will teach On1. Each day will start with a footwork and styling class for all levels.
There will be three intro classes offered over the weekend called “dancing outside the box” to expand your dance repertoire – we’ll be teaching West Coast Swing, Bachata and one still TBA. The weekend will include daily classes plus three nights of dancing, culminating on Saturday with a live band! In addition to a variety of Salsa classes, there will be a special session led by the music faculty for the Latin Jazz Intensive on hearing and understanding Latin rhythms.
Beginning level evening (open to public) classes will be held on Friday and Saturday Nights, and we'll hold a smokin' Salsa Dance Party on both Friday and Saturday nights (9pm-2am open to the public), DJ'd with Seattle's favorite - Victor Chavez.
