Centrum is committed to making workshops a reality for as many as possible. Thanks to the generous support of donors, corporations, foundations and other attendees, Centrum will give nearly $100,000 in scholarships and work-trade to workshop participants. Some of the sources of those funds are listed at the end of this page.
How Do I Apply for a Scholarship?
- Make sure you are registered for the workshop for which you are seeking support.
If you register online, you will be given the opportunity to apply within the registration process.
You can also apply by filling out a registration form and dropping it by or mailing to our office, or register over the phone: 360.385.3102 x114. - Download and fill out our Scholarship Application Form.
- Return scholarship application to Centrum by the scholarship deadline for your workshop. A "Rolling" deadline means that scholarships are awarded until the funds are gone; first come, first serve can apply, so send in your application early.
How Do I Apply for Work Trade?
In addition to direct scholarships, some programs also offer the ability for you to reduce your tuition by helping out at the workshop. To apply, download, fill out, and return the appropriate form. 2010 work trade forms will be available here as soon as the programs are ready to take registration the 2nd week in November. - The Abington Foundation provides support for youth (18 and under) in need.
- The Gael Stuart Fund provides support for gifted youth in need.
- The Lanphere Jazz Fund supplements programs costs for Jazz Workshop participants.
- The Hearst Foundation provides support for participants of all ages and programs.
- The Centrum GLBT Fund provides support to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered workshop participants in financial need (in any Centrum programs).
- The Centrum General Scholarship Fund provides support for participants of all ages and programs.
- The Bruce and Jolene McCaw Fund provides scholarship support for gifted jazz students.
- The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation provides scholarship support to Pierce County youth.
- Crossroads Music Scholarships provide support to residents of Port Townsend, Port Angeles, Sequim, Bainbridge Island, and Bremerton/Silverdale.
