JOB TITLE: Development Associate
JOB STATUS: Part-time Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Development
Overview
The Development Associate provides data entry and report production, gift processing, and event support necessary to the success of Centrum’s Development Department. The Development Associate’s mastery of Sage and Auction Tracker is critical to timely gift processing and special event fundraising. The Development Associate takes direction from the Director of Development and Development Manager, and reports to the Director of Development.
Essential Functions
Data entry, gift processing, and report production
Process gifts in Sage and Auction Tracker
- Enter data associated with individual donations, Gala auction donations, and Gala guest registration
- Generate and mail acknowledgments
- Generate mailing lists, donation lists, guest lists, and reports
- Draft and enter basic descriptive copy for Gala auction donations
Membership renewals
- Generate/mail first renewal letter
- Generate second reminder letter
Database maintenance
- Enter address corrections in Sage and Auction Tracker
- Re-send returned mail
Prospect research
- Using the Internet and public records, research and create reports that provide information about current and prospective donors
Event support
- Assist with implementation of cultivation events Presenters’ Dinner, Patron Party, Behind the Scenes, post-concert Chamber Music receptions, Summer Season receptions for Fiddle Tunes, Jazz, and Blues (intermission) and the Writers’ Conference (post-reading), and the Gala and Auction. Includes creating nametags, purchasing and prepping refreshments, decorating the venue, and assisting during and after the event.
- Assist with organization, set-up, and staffing of the Membership Table during the Summer Season.
Other Duties
- Some weekends and evening hours required.
- Overall support of events at Centrum.
- Other duties as assigned and developed in collaboration with the Director of Development and Development Manager.
Qualifications
- Two to four years experience with development or other office administration; Associate's degree with course work in non-profit management or development preferred.
- Facility with data entry, Excel spreadsheets and distribution lists, and use of Internet for fundraising purposes.
- Experience working in a deadline driven environment while handling multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
- Must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings when needed.

Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to use a keyboard, complete written documents, sit for extended periods of time and operate general office equipment including a mail machine and copier.
- It also requires the ability to physically circulate in ready response to critical needs at events .
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
