Facilitated by Seattle-based installation artist, Mandy Greer, a group of high school artists from around Washington state are investigating the topics of eco art, collaboration, environmental installation, Craftivism, the DIY craft movement, and temporary public art.
Mandy has put together an outstanding blog documenting the work of these eco artists, called "Environmental Interventions."
Part of Centrum's Summer High School Arts Camp, the artists are forming small collectives, learning a variety of fiber-based techniques grounded in contemporary art practices, and creating a series of Environmental Installations on the wilderness grounds of Fort Worden State Park.
Mandy writes:
"Once we all got on a roll, much of our time is spent generating elements of the artists’ installations. The groups have each appointed a facilitator, not necessarily a group leader, but someone who keeps them on track, makes punch lists, takes notes, makes sketches and meets with me about their progress. These artists are so self-motivated, and a vibrant group to work with!"
We encourage you to follow their work during the week at http://envinstallation.wordpress.com/.
